Best tips to keep your swimming pool tiles clean
The luxury of a swimming pool in your backyard is a treat without measure; not only is it fun and exciting for your family, but it can enhance the value of your home. A swimming pool, even though a joy, does require maintenance and upkeep to keep it beautiful and swimmable.
In addition to keeping the pool water clean and safe for your family and friends you should talk to your swimming pool service professional about the upkeep of the area surrounding the pool including your pool tiles. Cleaning and maintaining your swimming pool tiles is an important task. If you or your swimming pool service pro aren’t spending time cleaning the tiles, you’ll quickly be faced with a mildew build up in between the tiles and you could even see a ring around your swimming pool as well. Cleaning the swimming pool tiles is one of those tasks that may be overlooked until the problem of mold or algae becomes evident. It’s best to catch it, and clean it before it ever happens.
One of the best ways to make certain your pool – and your tiles – stay clean is by maintaining proper chemical levels in the water. Too much chlorine can bleach the tiles, too little chlorine and you run the risk of mildew and algae taking hold.
Either you or your pool service pro should clean the tiles at least weekly with a pool brush. Even if there is no build up, it’s best to keep the tiles clean before it starts, also if there is not build up, you can simply use the water from the swimming pool to clean the tiles. If you find there is mildew or algae starting, you can use a tile cleaning product or a natural cleaner you can make by mixing white vinegar and baking soda.
Regardless of how clean you keep the tiles, your should clean the tiles at least once a season with a tile cleaner. This is usually done at the time your pool is opened for the season so that you start off with fresh, clean tiles.
